Mr. Rupjyoti Brahma Karjee

Born on March 25, 1981 at Kokrajhar (State of Assam) in the North Eastern Region of India, Mr. Rupjyoti Brahma Karjee completed his early schooling from his home town. He went on to obtain Master of Arts in Economics from the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, and Master of Philosophy from the Centre for the Study of Law and Governance of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Mr. Karjee is a career diplomat who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2011. He has served in Indian Missions at Moscow (Russian Federation) and Canberra (Australia). He has also served as Consul General of India to the Far Eastern Region of the Russian Federation at the Consulate General of India, Vladivostok, and later on as Director of the Indian Cultural Centre in Sydney (Australia). At the Headquarters in New Delhi, he has worked in the Consular, Passport and Visa (CPV) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs.

In July 2021, Mr. Karjee was appointed as the Personal Secretary to the Indian Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh. He also headed the Office of Indian Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Mr. Pabitra Margherita until August 2024. He joined as Consul-General of India in Marseille on October 18, 2024. Mr. Karjee is married to Ms. Benu Musahari. They have two sons.
